The Events of 21st of Limestone, 1070
Jodogothigis hissed in triumph. In her hands she held the coveted artifact, Anannist atastnakuthamem, "Nightfears the Brave Braided Curls. A platinum ring of such value it could buy out several towns.

It was also an item the Dwarves of Nist Akath were particularly proud of.

In her triumph she failed to notice a dwarf by the name of Archibess walking past.
Archibess spotted her, and immediately shrieked a warning to the rest of the fort.

Without hesitation, Jodogothigis began to run. She had come here with two friends, and they had fallen to the axe of that bitch Bomrek, the Captain of the Guard here.

Jodogothigis ran for the steps, hoping for them to be her salvation. On the next level, she saw nobody around, and slipped quietly into the Galleria.

Statues of dwarven heroes overlooked her from above, and she shivered under their cold gaze.

The Galleria had been her way in, while the others had foolishly attempted entry into the Great Shaft, which was heavily guarded. This is why she alone was now alive. This was why she was the one with the prize. Surely tales would be told of her bravery.

Perhaps even Srorber, the leader of her tribe, would take her as his wife.

All these thoughts went through her head as she fled up the stairs, finally reaching the entrance level of the Galleria.

She burst open the door, expecting it to be filled with a scene of dwarves toiling in the levels below. Expecting a harrowing, but possible way to escape.

It was not filled with this scene. It was filled with dwarf. It was filled with Bomrek.

"Skeee!" Jodogothigis shrieked in fright as she realized what she had stumbled into. The shock caused her to lose her footing, and she fell at the feet of the stern looking dwarf.

"That appears to be ours, thief!" thundered the dwarf, bringing down the axe.

Jodogothigis felt the axe pass through her right knee, severing her leg.
It came down again, slicing through her left elbow. Her arm fell to the ground, still clutching the precious artifact.

As she slipped into the darkness, riding a wave of pain, she felt a moments regret at her failure. Her own incompetence had cost her everything, at the moment when her success was so very near.

Bomrek stood above the pieces of kobold corpse, wiping its blood from her axe blade. She didn't like having to deal this way with creatures who couldn't fight back, and wished they simply didn't come.

But they always came. There wasn't a time in recorded history when Kobolds weren't trying to steal dwarven treasures.
Many raiding parties had been sent to recover items that they had stolen, but she knew that just as many times those raiding parties came back with only battle scars.

Sighing, she went to find a peasant to clean up the mess.
