Events of the 14th of Sandstone
"I GROW TIRED OF WAITING!" thundered the Colossus, and commenced marching on the fortress.
"MERCIFUL HEAVENS!" shouted Adalore, "LOOK AT THE SIZE OF IT!"
"I thought it was the size of the others!" said Vanon. "I guess it was just standing further away!"
"It's headed for us. The Captain and the Captain of the Guard will be here soon. We're all that stands between it and the fortress!" said Adalore.
They joined in battle. Vanon shot at the monstrosity with his crossbow, which had about as much effect as a gnat.
The others charged in, striking where they could, and dodging all the blows they were able.
"It's no good!" puffed Adalore, "We're not damaging it enough to matter!"
"I think we put some scratches on it!" muttered Scorpios angrily.
"RARGH!" roared Vanon, charging in and bashing it with his crossbow.
"What did you think that was going to do?!" asked Adalore in surprise, as he dodged yet another lethal blow.
"I'm out of bolts." he said.
"That's great." mutttered Scorpios, throwing himself to the side to avoid being squashed by a foot.
"We're right with you!" came Ironblood's voice from behind them, and he joined them in battle.
"I've never seen one this big!" he shouted to the others.
"Why do they all come here?" asked Adalore.
"It must be our charming personalities." joked Bomrek, stepping to the side to avoid the Colossus' angry swipe.
The battle was fierce and interminable, with the small group of warriors attacking from all sides, confusing the monster as it struck at them. It was clearly a great fighter, but they were better.
The only problem was, it didn't wear out, and if they did not defeat it soon, they wouldn't have the strength to keep striking.
Luck was on their side, however, as the Colossus fought, its foot failed to find purchase in the slippery ice. It fell to its back, and the dwarves swarmed it.
Out of habit, they removed its eyes.
It didn't seem to care much, and kept striking at them.
Instead it roared, and forced them off it as it stood to its feet.
Angrily, it swiped at Bomrek, and she quickly dodged its blow.
Instead of striking at its body, she turned her axe against the hand that had struck at her, finding a flaw and severing it from the colossus' body.
"Looks like he could use a hand!" she said cheerily.
"Pity that." chuckled Ironblood.
It was Bomrek's blow that finished the battle, severing the monster in half. The many cracks split open and it fell in twain as a triumphant shout went up from the heroes.
They all sighed.
"I'm so damned tired!" said Vanon, collapsing to the ground.
"Take a break, you earned it." said Ironblood, nodding. He turned to Bomrek.
"Got a place in your office for a statue?" he asked.
